New Jersey

I have finally realized how to publish photos in a better way. So enjoy the new format. My friend Chris, his wife Cathy and I left for the U.S. on Friday morning at 2:00 am and stopped in Atlantic City, NJ around noon. While on the beach I noticed this man fishing.

After an hour we drove to Cape May, NJ. Cape May claims to be the oldest seaside resort in the United States (The city's official motto is "The Nation's Oldest Seashore Resort"); it first became popular in the 18th century and was considered one of the finest resorts in America by the 19th century. This was painted on the walkway.

We stayed at The Sandpiper Inn and sampled the local wine.

In 2004, Camden was declared "America's Most Dangerous City" by the Morgan Quitno Corporation [1], up from third place in 2003 and topping the 354 cities studied. The city was named "Most Dangerous" again in 2005 out of 369 cities ranked nationwide[2], with Detroit, Michigan and St. Louis, Missouri in second and third place respectively. We went to Farm Aid and had a stellar time being part of such a good cause. This year's one-day concert helped raise $1.1 million to aid family farms across America. Rolling Stone said that with this year's financial tally, the world's longest running charity concert has raised almost $30 million since its inception in 1985.

Pennsylvania and Maryland

After the concert we drove into old Philidelphia and then went for a bite.

I had the meatless cheeseless "philly cheesesteak."

The next day we drove to Baltimore, Maryland. This started a visit with several of Chris' family members and friends. We watched the Raven's play the Chargers, Baltimore came back to win and everyone in the room went nuts.

We visited one of the last farms in the middle of Balimore where I met some wonderful people. After the farm we drove to see a lady named Florence whose company imspired me as much as Calvin, both 86.
